Anxiety

General Anxiety is an increasing problem in western society as the modern world demands more and more of our time through mobile communications which reduces our time to recharge and can manifest in symptoms such as shortness of breath or excessive worrying, often about nothing in particular.

The feeling of waking in the morning and feeling anxious and nervous for no reason is familiar one to many and can be soul destroying as the condition becomes a way of life.

These symptoms are stress responses which are natural protective mechanisms often referred to as the "fight or flight response" which helped our ancestors to survive by preparing the body for immediate action against threats such as predators. Rarely do we experience such physical life or death threats in the modern world with the majority of anxiety occurring at a psychological level, yet our minds still perceive a physical threat and so the fight or flight response is activated. If the preparedness of the body for immediate action is not utilized then short term physical and mental health problems can arise such as gastrointestinal disorders, insomnia, compromised immune system, panic attacks and more serious long term effects such as stomach ulcers, hypertension etc.

There is no reason why anybody has to live in a state of anxiety.

Simple techniques such as self hypnosis can be easily learnt along with breathing techniques to immediately negate the anxiety. Further exploration of underlying issues and concerns can also be useful in addressing the origins of excessive anxiety.

Matt Jacobs can help you live a live free from anxiety and worry in a caring and confidential manner with therapy that is tailored to you as an individual helping you to take control of your life.
